Language Study- In the Comfort of Your Own Home

Introduction

Language study is an opportunity to open many new avenues of exploration for you, weather it be for personal or business purposes.

I have been fortunate to learn three languages, and am continuing to study more, both for the enjoyment, and professional benefits that it affords me.

I am fortunate to travel regularly, and being able to converse in the native tongue of any country you are in is always a distinct advantage.

I found an excerpt from an article on language learning which I feel is very relevant...

"More than motivation is needed: I was very motivated to learn French. As language learners we must creatively and persistently act on the conviction that we are the ones ultimately responsible for our language learning success."

"And that highlights the purpose of Language Learning, to provide you with suggestions and insight into how you can personally maximize your own effectiveness."

The above explain it very well- you need to be motivated in your own way, and certainly, formal training can be very good.  However, it needs to be with the right teacher and method.

Methods of Study

I am fully understanding that not everyone is able to attend a class in  a traditional sense as some people work odd hours,  such as shift workers.

In cases like these, there are some very well presented and thought out language programmes,  some for the computer, and others recorded as CD's or cassette tapes.

I feel that each one has a role to play, and in my case, I have used a combination of all types.

I attend a regular class, as well as use software CD ROMS for the computer, and also listen to recorded tapes in the car.

I believe in a 'saturation' style, where we surround ourselves with that ewhich we want.

I have found some fantastic websites where programmes can be purchased, and I look forward to hearing your positive feedback.
